Cloud Architecture

With this skill, you design the global architecture of cloud solutions and clearly visualize it. This includes identifying main components and services (e.g., compute resources, storage, networking, security, monitoring, automation, and application layers) and documenting how these interact with each other. The result is a comprehensive blueprint of the cloud infrastructure.

The importance of this is that all stakeholders gain insight into the structure of the solution before implementation begins. This makes collaboration easier (everyone understands where certain functionality should be deployed) and changes or additions can be implemented with minimal impact on the overall architecture.

Starting Points

Key Points

  • You divide the cloud solution into logical services and components with clear responsibilities. You demonstrate understanding of separation of concerns in the architecture.
  • You create schematic overviews (such as infrastructure diagrams, service topology maps, or architectural blueprints) of the cloud architecture. These show which services exist and how data flows between components.
  • You justify architectural choices considering reliability, security, cost-efficiency, performance, and operational excellence.
  • You apply common cloud architecture patterns and best practices where relevant.
