Foundational Knowledge
Foundational Knowledge
This section contains the foundational knowledge every Digital Business Engineer needs, regardless of the studio you work in. It covers the core concepts, models and terminology of the profession: the basis you build on when you analyse business processes, advise stakeholders and design IT solutions.
You master this knowledge mainly through self-study. Each article explains a concept, gives you starting points to learn more, and lists key points that describe what you should know and understand. Use these key points to test yourself: if you can explain or apply each of them in your own words, without looking anything up, you have a good grasp of the topic. If not, go back to the starting points.
Twice per semester, your understanding of this section is tested in a profile-specific knowledge test. You take this test individually and without the help of AI. This is not because AI is unwelcome in your work, but because you can only use AI responsibly when you understand the fundamentals yourself.
The foundational knowledge is deliberately kept limited. It gives you a shared starting point, not a complete curriculum. The rest of this Body of Knowledge is there for you to explore, depending on your project, your client and your own learning goals.
